DATE OF FOUNDATION OF MUNICIPALITIES OF QUINDÍO
Calarcá is the oldest municipality in the department of Quindío, founded in 1886. Armenia was founded on October 14, 1889 and became the department's capital when Quindío separated from Caldas in 1966. The town of Salento, although small, is considered one of the most heritage-rich in the Coffee Axis and attracts thousands of tourists each year.
