DATE OF FOUNDATION OF MUNICIPALITIES OF CAUCA
Popayán is the oldest city in the department of Cauca, founded on January 13, 1537 by Sebastián de Belalcázar. It is one of the oldest cities in Colombia and has been declared a Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
